about

Old tracker techno from 1994-1996, composed at Tuulentupa@Kannus, remixed in 2001 at Laboratorio 13@Jyväskylä. I was 18 when I made these, so they are among some of my oldest excursions into electronic composing (I started with Scream Tracker on an 286 PC in 1990-1991, with a boombox and D(igital)/A(nalog) -converter connected to it with wires running from the printer port of the computer... (no soundcard then!!! :D )).

These tracks were probably made with a tracker, so they are sample -based, no hardware used here. Most samples are made by me, but some are ripped from who knows, and mutated into something unrecognizable something-else.

The original name of this project was 'Prospero', but since there are at least one (and I imagine maybe more) artists with the same name, so I changed to Pharmakophile, which is an homage to one of my great heroes, the incredible ethnopharmacologist and scientist/inventor Jonathan Ott.
